How does TruckStop work?
Once a lift truck or other material handling equipment is equipped with a TruckStop unit, it cannot be activated until an operator presents an authorized user Driver Key to a dash mounted reader. The reader LED will change from red to green and the equipment will be enabled. At the point the driver can attempt to start the ignition. If the Driver Key is not allowed access, the reader will beep twice and record the activation attempt. A programming kit is required to authorize users and trucks.
What happens when a Driver Key is lost?
The system manager is able to de-program the lost key and program a new Driver Key at the same time. If the lost key is found, it can be re-programmed and re-issued. If someone forgets their Driver Key at home, they can sign for a spare key that is already programmed into the system.
Can TruckStop be easily by-passed by the operator?
No. In order to by-pass TruckStop, it must be un-installed by a trained technician.
Is TruckStop weatherproof?
Yes. TruckStop is rated as weatherproof but must be protected when a pressure washer is used.
How does the information travel between TruckStop and the computer?
TruckStop uses an electronic Program/Audit key, similar to a user Driver Key. The program/audit key is the portable data transfer device that is used to transport data between TruckStop and the computer.
Can TruckStop be transferred to another truck?
Yes. TruckStop is designed for easy installation and has a non-volatile memory that does not need re-programming if left without power.
How long does it take to learn how to use TruckStop?
As a User, it takes less than one minute to learn how to work the Driver Key with the reader. As the System Manager, it will take less than an hour to learn all the basics of TruckStop.
Can TruckStop be used on anything else?
Yes. It can be used on any product that can be controlled with a relay.
How long does it take to install TruckStop?
TruckStop hardware has been installed in as little as fifty minutes. However, it depends on the equipment and the ability of the installer. On average, you should plan on two to three hours to complete an installation.
Can TruckStop be used to perform Lock-out, Tag-out (LOTO) for when equipment is unsafe to operate?
Yes. TruckStop can be reprogrammed to a maintenance lock-out mode so only service technicians can operate the product in question.
